The Hazelwood Mine Fire Inquiry will begin holding community consultations as early as next week.
Seven sessions are scheduled with four in Morwell, and one each in Moe, Churchill and Traralgon.
‘It is our intention to make the Inquiry’s community consultations as accessible as possible for Morwell and Latrobe Valley citizens,’ said Board member, Ms Sonia Petering.
The first of the community consultations will take place on Thursday, 10 April 2014 at 12.30pm in Morwell and the remaining sessions will continue through to Wednesday, 16 April 2014. Morning, afternoon and evening sessions are available for people to book into. More sessions may be scheduled later if necessary.
‘These community meetings are designed to give anyone who wants to attend an opportunity to voice their concerns and provide input into the Inquiry’, said chair of the Board, Justice Bernard Teague.
‘The information gathered will assist us to identify issues and prioritise our work’.
‘The community consultation sessions are just one of the ways in which the Board of Inquiry is collecting information about the Hazelwood mine fire. We also welcome written submissions from anyone who can provide the Inquiry with valuable insights and information’, said Professor John Catford, third member of the Board.
To register for one of the sessions, please call the Recovery Call Centre on 1800 017 777.
