The EPA has received community reports alleging that Hazeldene’s Chicken Farm discharged waste water at a proposed offsite irrigation area along Boyles Lane in Lockwood on Tuesday 8 April 2014.
Hazeldene’s has confirmed a small discharge of around 100-200 litres occurred. EPA is investigating the incident for any breach of the Environmental Protection Act.
EPA officers attended farming premises along Boyles Lane and collected samples of liquids from the base of irrigation infrastructure. The samples have been sent off for analysis.
A community consultation session is being held next Wednesday, 16 April to discuss the submitted Environmental Improvement Project proposal at Boyles Lane.
