Windblown rubbish Bacchus Marsh

1 Aug 2014

Residents of Bacchus Marsh are reporting windblown litter from the Maddingley Brown Coal (MBC) Landfill.

EPA sets standards for industry with regard to protect the community. When there is a clear breach of these standards and an identifiable source, EPA can take action.

In this case, EPA is satisfied that the litter has escaped beyond the site boundary due to the extreme weather conditions.

MBC has deployed clean-up crews to ensure all litter is retrieved and adequately disposed of.

MBC is also in the design phase of constructing a 14 meter high litter fence to provide an additional measure for controlling windblown litter.

Report Pollution to EPA, 1300 EPA VIC (1300 372 842).
