EPA Victoria has commissioned a mobile dust monitor for Melbourne's dustiest suburb, Brooklyn.
EPA Metro Manager Lisa McLeod said EPA has been working on Brooklyn's dust issues since 2008, installing an air quality monitoring station in 2009.
"Studies show that using a single mobile dust monitoring device would provide a deeper understanding of dust movement and sources in the area," Ms McLeod said.
"As such, we have commissioned the development of a mobile dust monitoring instrument than can be operated from a vehicle and driven around at times of dust occurrence to help EPA identify sources."
The unit will trialled before its deployed in Brooklyn.
