An EPA drain-chase has confirmed that a white and blue discharge into Darebin Creek earlier in the week was a latex product used in carpet manufacture.
EPA officers tracked the plastic back to the source, gathering samples from the premises and the creek.
The company has cleaned-up, and sanction will be considered under EPA’s compliance and enforcement policy.
Darebin Creek was largely clear of the visual impacts at the discharge site yesterday, and the alert has been removed from the Cleaner Yarra and Bay website.
Community reported a white and blue discharge coming from a storm water drain in Darebin Creek, visible between Thornbury and Alphington on 19 and 20 August.
