0945 Air quality update for the Latrobe Valley

While there are no current smoke advisories for the Latrobe Valley (Tuesday) residents are advised conditions could change depending on the weather.

Air quality in Morwell East has improved overnight and today (Tuesday) to good. EPA monitoring in Morwell town confirmed that smoke levels reduced on Monday afternoon and overnight.

This was from the poor to very poor levels as experienced on Monday morning and early yesterday afternoon.

This is largely because there has been some respite from the south westerly winds.

Traralgon’s air quality has followed a similar trend to Morwell East but was generally better yesterday.

Around the rest of the state, satellite images from Monday suggest that most of Victoria is clear of smoke except for East Gippsland.

Air quality in Melbourne and Geelong has been generally good to very good during the past two days.
