Changed wind conditions mean smoke levels have decreased over the Latrobe Valley.

Smoke was concentrated over the area this afternoon (Tuesday) as south-westerly winds directed the plume over Morwell and Traralgon.

Forecast for the next 24 hours (Latrobe Valley)

Morwell: Possible smoke impacts tonight (Tuesday) and tomorrow (Wednesday) in parts of Morwell close to the mine fire. Significant impacts very unlikely.

Morwell East: Unlikely to experience any significant smoke.

Moe: Likely to experience minor smoke impacts until 11pm tonight. Unlikely to be affected by smoke tomorrow.

Traralgon: Unlikely to experience any significant smoke.

For the rest of Victoria, satellite imaging suggests that most of Victoria is clear of smoke except for East Gippsland and the Latrobe Valley (plumes can be seen here).

Air quality in Melbourne and Geelong has been generally good to very good during the past two days.
