With Victoria’s music festival season well underway, we’re keen make sure you know where to turn if you’re annoyed by music from these events while you’re at home.
There are seven outdoor music events planned for the Victorian Racing Club precinct in the next three months.
Outdoor music events such as the Big Day Out, WhiteNight, Stereosonic and Soundwave and regional festivals such as Queenscliff Music Festival, Apollo Bay Music Festival and many others attract hundreds of thousands of people and enjoy good support from local community, local government and the State Government.
But these events, if not carefully managed can have impacts on nearby residents.
Event organisers are required under their council permit and noise management plan, to set up an events hotline.
You should report annoying noise to these hotlines, as the venue operators are required to have in place quick procedures for a quick reduction of music noise levels.
A record of these complaints, action taken and the result will be shared with EPA and will inform any actions on the venue operator. You can also report to Vic Police, local Council. There's more general information on our expectations of outdoor event organisers and venue operators on the following links.
