Minor interuptions to sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide broadcasts

6 Mar 2014

You’re going to see some very minor changes to EPA’s website today, as we bring more air quality monitors online in Morwell to cover the Hazelwood open cut mine fire.

As we set up the machines and get them talking direct to the Hazelwood open cut mine community air quality webpage, you may notice a short interruption to both sulfur dioxide (SO2)and carbon monoxide (CO) reporting.

Once the machines are online both SO2 and CO will start streaming again.

This won’t affect our collection of these data, nor impact our ongoing monitoring of the primary health concern, the small particle PM2.5. And we’ll continue to issue advisories, alerts and send data to the Department of Health and fire services for their decision making.
