- Victorians leading in sustainable practices set to be rewarded
- Businesses and individuals invited to apply to be recognised by Premier Denis Napthine’s Sustainability Awards
- Victorian Coalition Government committed to a more sustainable Victoria
Minister for Environment and Climate Change Ryan Smith today called for leaders in sustainability to apply for the Premier's Sustainability Awards 2014.
Mr Smith said the Premier’s Sustainability Awards celebrates the contribution of businesses, communities and individuals towards creating a more sustainable Victoria.
"These awards are the night of nights for celebrating exemplary environmentally-friendly behaviour, it’s our Oscars for the environment," Mr Smith said.
"These awards recognise the outstanding work by Victorian communities, businesses and individuals who are taking action to care for and protect our precious natural assets.
"They demonstrate the Victorian Coalition Government’s commitment to partnerships, working to help Victorians take practical actions to protect the health of our environment.
"I encourage all Victorians who demonstrate leadership and innovation in sustainability to enter one of our nine categories, and I look forward to seeing a high calibre of entries.
"The categories in this year’s awards will recognise sustainable practices in Innovative Products and Services, Infrastructure and Buildings, Education, Environmental Protection, Small and Medium Enterprises, Large Business, Tourism, Cleaner Yarra and Bay, and Community.
"In addition to these awards, Premier Denis Napthine will personally select two overall winners for the Premier's Regional Recognition Award and the Premier's Recognition Award".
