What: As part of the SITA Hallam Road Enforceable Undertaking (EU) with EPA Victoria, SITA was required to contribute $100,000 to a local environmental project (requirement 4.11 of the Enforceable undertaking) and on Saturday 5 April, approximately 700 trees will be planted at River Gum Reserve Park Hampton Park.
Other activities include Melbourne Water water watch activities for kids, bird watching with wildlife experts, face painting, showbag and other giveaways.
In February EPA Victoria Chair Cheryl Batagol visited a completed tree planting project at Elliot-Kingsfield Reserve in Lynbrook, also part of the SITA Hallam Rd EU.
The Hallam Road community has been fighting for an end to odour from the Hallam Rd landfill and regular community reporting to EPA Victoria has been essential in helping drive towards a mutually beneficial resolution.
