EPA requires Burra Foods to control milk dust emissions

10 Nov 2014

The Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has issued a Minor Works Pollution Abatement Notice on Burra Foods requiring the immediate installation of particle emission controls.

Burra has begun installing the emission control measures, which must be completed by Monday 17th November under notice.

In recent weeks, Korumburra residents have reported milk dust falling on the town. An EPA investigation on 3 November confirmed Burra Foods manufacturing plant as the source.

EPA Director Environmental Regulation Elizabeth Radcliffe said events such as these had a significant impact on the surrounding community.

“EPA's priority is to ensure that industries deliver a level of environmental performance that allows members of the public to fully enjoy their backyards and neighbourhoods,” she said.

Investigations continue. Report pollution to EPA on 1300 372 842.
