EPA is examining the environmental standards for the Gippsland Lakes and catchment. This will ensure we have clear and relevant standards to protect and improve the health of our water environment.
EPA has prepared a report that describes the uses and the environmental values of the Gippsland Lakes and catchment that the community would like protected for the future. This report includes survey results and local case studies. This information has allowed the EPA to produce a draft community vision for the Gippsland Lakes and catchment.
EPA is seeking feedback on the draft vision for the health of the Gippsland Lakes and catchment. When finalised this community vision, together with current scientific information, will be used to develop new water quality standards for the Lakes and catchment.
