EPA Victoria is today conducting air quality testing at seven sites in Sunshine North, after confirming the presence of asbestos sheeting in illegally dumped waste on Gilmour Rd and traces in material at the eastern side of the rail corridor.
Air monitoring in the area to date shows no evidence of airborne asbestos fibres. This monitoring is conducted to give the community confidence in their environment.
Monitoring will be carried out at:
1. Back of Cary St (East of Gilmour Road)
2. Barwon St (near Francis St end)
3. Barwon St (halfway to 2/3 along from McIntyre Rd)
4. Between Bradman and Hassett St
5. Between Hassett St and Suffolk Rd
6. Onsite at Westend Market (near the railway line)
7. In the vicinity of Cary St
EPA will report back to the community on the results.
