The Hazelwood Mine Fire Inquiry handed down its full report in Parliament yesterday.
EPA welcomes the Inquiry and accepts recommendations relating to EPA’s procedures and processes, many of which are already being implemented.
Hazelwood was unprecedented in its prolonged impact on air quality and the community. EPA devoted its resources throughout the mine fire incident to air quality and other environmental monitoring. This involved scientific experts, field personnel and a suite of equipment including fixed air monitoring stations.
EPA will continue its monitoring in Gippsland to ensure the local community are confident in the air they are breathing.
