EPA releases Composting Draft Guideline

5 Sep 2014

The EPA is seeking the views of the community, industry and government to include in its Composting Draft Guideline released today.

The document was developed to replace a 1996 version which focused on organics recycling and is consistent with Victorian Government’s: Getting full value: the Victorian Waste and Resource Recovery Policy.

Key updates focus on three main changes: standards for the processing of specific wastes; standards for products; and separation distances. EPA has made these changes based on data from existing facilities, policy and scientific research and with input from composting experts.

Submissions on the draft guidelines can be made to guidelines@epa.vic.gov.au by 10 October 2014.
