Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has received a works approval application from Iluka Resources (Iluka) to continue the disposal of waste by-products at its Douglas Mine site.
Horsham Regional City Council (HRCC) has also received a planning permit application from Iluka to allow the disposal of by-products of mineral sands extraction and processing.
A joint community information session with representatives from EPA, HRCC, the applicant and referral agencies will be held in Kanagulk on Thursday, 23 July from 2pm-730pm at Kanagulk Hall (Natimuk-Hamilton Road, Kanagulk Memorial Park, Kanagulk, 3401).
EPA representatives will be in attendance and the community is encouraged to attend to learn more about the proposal and EPA’s assessment process.
Members of the community who may be affected by the granting of the permit or works approval may object or make other submissions to the responsible authority no later than 5pm Wednesday, 5 August. Those relating to the works approval application can be emailed to: works.approval@epa.vic.gov.au
