Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has today welcomed a new Executive Director of Regional Services, Damian Wells.
EPA CEO Nial Finegan said Mr Wells would be based at EPA’s Bendigo office, placing emphasis on the regulator’s work in regional Victoria.
“This is an important step as EPA increasingly plays a vital role in making a difference to people, gaining regional perspectives and local partnerships to support liveable, sustainable communities and natural environments while supporting jobs and growth,” Mr Finegan said.
Mr Finegan said Mr Wells brought valuable executive experience to EPA’s executive team.
“This team is relatively new, and we need to understand the proud history of EPA and embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie before us,” Mr Finegan said.
“We have a lot to be proud of and the state-wide EPA team makes a difference every day.
“Damian has been CEO of the North Central Catchment Management Authority for the past six years and is a Director of Anglicare Victoria.
“Damian holds a Bachelor of Environmental Management, a Master of Business Administration and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.”
Mr Wells said he was excited to be joining EPA.
“The attraction to EPA was primarily about an opportunity to join a highly regarded organisation in a role where I can continue to make a contribution to the community and to grow and develop as a leader,” Mr Wells said.
“My aim is to make a positive contribution as a leader and champion for the Regional Services Directorate. Covering the geography is an obvious challenge but this also presents an exciting opportunity to broaden and deepen my working knowledge of Victorian industries and the environment.”
