Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) and Garden City Fuel Station Pty Ltd (Garden City) have settled a proceeding in the Supreme Court in which Garden City had sought to review a Clean Up Notice issued by EPA in relation to Garden City’s site at 337 Williamstown Road, Port Melbourne.
EPA and Garden City have agreed to amend the Clean Up Notice which will require Garden City to commence interim clean-up works at the site and prepare a clean-up plan; the notice also has clear timelines for compliance.
EPA CEO Nial Finegan said he had met with local residents, representatives and the site's operator and that EPA was pleased Garden City had agreed to a plan to work towards addressing the issues at the site.
“EPA welcomes the positive agreement and willingness of parties to work together,” Mr Finegan said.
