Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) today welcomes a new Executive Director of Knowledge, Standards and Assessments, Cathy Wilkinson.
EPA CEO Nial Finegan said Dr Wilkinson’s appointment strengthened EPA’s executive team.
“Dr Wilkinson joins EPA having worked most recently as an Executive Director Strategy and Planning in the Water and Catchments area of the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning,” Mr Finegan said.
“She has a PhD in natural resource management, a Masters of Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Applied Science.”
Mr Finegan said Dr Wilkinson’s role was an integral part of EPA’s regulation of industries.
“A huge part of the role will be overseeing EPA’s works approval processes and the licences it provides to business to ensure no damage to the environment occurs,” Mr Finegan said.
Dr Wilkinson said she had always been interested in environmental sustainability, good governance and bridging the gap between science and public policy.
“In these respects the EPA role is a great match. I've been impressed by the commitment the organisation has to delivering good outcomes for Victorians and being a great place to work,” Dr Wilkinson said.
“I'm really looking forward to being part of the executive management team working with staff from across the whole organisation to shape the next phase of the EPA. It's going to be a huge learning curve for me as I get across EPA's business and new technical areas as well as get to know a different set of stakeholders.
“I am also excited to be joining the organisation as it goes through a major review that will help shape its next phase.”
