EPA conducts unannounced inspections

Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) will be conducting a series of unannounced inspections across metropolitan Melbourne today focusing on sources of stormwater pollution.

The inspections will be held in the suburbs of Yarraville, West Footscray, Tottenham, Preston, Kingsville and Braybrook.

Inspections will focus on potential sources of stormwater contamination impacting on Stony Creek and Darebin Creek, including operational practices, chemical storage and handling and stormwater protection.

EPA officers will also provide general education and advice on environmental requirements to industry.

This operation is being by co-ordinated EPA, with involvement and assistance from Melbourne Water, City West Water, Yarra Valley Water, Darebin City Council and Maribyrnong City Council.
