Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) was this afternoon informed of possible asbestos contamination next door to the Bellbrae Primary School a few kilometres west of Torquay.
EPA officers attended and found industrial waste on the site and large stockpiles of excavated soil, but no visible asbestos.
EPA will issue the site with a clean up notice that will require an immediate environmental assessment of the site.
EPA advises that there is no community risk from asbestos at the site.
