Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) is currently investigating a spill from the ashing system of GDF Suez’s Hazelwood power station.
GDF Suez provided EPA today a full account of the spill, which occurred on Tuesday. EPA will be addressing this issue of reporting as part of its investigation.
The spill, estimated to be around 40,000 litres, is fully contained within the neighbouring Energy Brix site – an EPA licensed facility - and there is minimal risk to the environment.
EPA officers are inspecting the site to determine if licence conditions have been breached.
Further updates will be provided as information comes to hand.
