Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) today received notification of a breached pipe from the Central Deborah Tourist Mine, which is dewatering as part of the Bendigo Rising groundwater issue.
The notification said that last night a pipe diverting groundwater discharged into Bendigo Creek; the discharge ceased this morning.
EPA officers have attended the site to determine the amount of the discharge and have requested an incident report.
EPA officers attending this morning observed no signs of environmental impacts and that creek flow was minimal; no further discharge into the creek was noticed.
EPA will not carry out sampling as the discharge has stopped, but have confirmed that pumping will cease until new pipes and infrastructure is installed.
