Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has been advised by Altona company Qenos that preliminary testing of soil and groundwater at its site has shown the presence of perfluoralkyl substances (PFAS) both on and off its premises.
EPA Metro Manager Daniel Hunt said that the company was now required to provide information to EPA about the next steps it would take to ensure the contamination was contained, and how it would remedy the situation.
“EPA has formalised this with a notice that requires Qenos to provide reporting to EPA about further investigations and testing and how it proposes to manage the contamination at the site,” Mr Hunt said.
Qenos has issued a public statement, which can be viewed here: http://www.qenos.com.au/internet/home.nsf/web/CmtyUpdates
