Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has completed water quality testing at Seacombe boat ramp in McLennans Straight in the Gippsland Lakes following a report of dead fish last week.
Testing has shown water quality in McLennans Straight to be normal for summer conditions.
McLennans Straight is a very dynamic location because of tidal influences and rain events that flush swamps and rivers, which can relocate fish in the process; therefore the exact cause of the fish deaths could not be determined
An EPA investigation found no indications that the death of about 20 black bream and one estuary perch was caused by pollution or factors of concern to human health.
