Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has received a report of a fish death incident at Avoca River, Charlton.
Approximately 215 dead fish, mainly carp, have been found at the river earlier this week. The fish deaths have been attributed to natural causes, caused by lack of water flow in shallow areas and high temperatures.
The dead fish are expected to degrade naturally without any significant environmental impacts. There could be odour for a few days.
Suspected fish deaths should be reported to the EPA Pollution Hotline on 1300 372 842 (1300 EPA VIC).
