EPA Woolshed Gorge investigation update

22 Jan 2016

All Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) sampling at Woolshed Gorge has shown no impacts on local waterways from fire water used to contain a Beechworth fire last weekend at the local IGA supermarket.

The Woolshed Falls site is currently closed to the public until Sunday, 24 January; it is hoped that Scenic Gorge Drive will be reopened this weekend.

Throughout the investigation EPA officers observed no impacts on vegetation or fish living in Spring Creek.

Authorities have now secured the IGA site to ensure no run off impacts from heavy rainfall predicted for Friday, 22 January 2016 occurs.

Current signage, warning against swimming and drinking, will remain as it is not advisable to swim in creeks after the heavy rainfall.
