EPA seeks community comments on Ravenhall proposal

8 Jul 2016

Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) is encouraging the community to provide feedback on Landfill Operations’ (Cleanaway) works approval and planning permit applications to extend its Melbourne Regional Landfill at Ravenhall.

Written submissions for both applications close at 5.00pm on Friday 15 July 2016.

EPA is currently assessing the works approval application, while the Minister for Planning has called in the planning permit application lodged with Melton City Council.

The Cleanaway proposal seeks to expand its current operations and to continue receiving the same waste types it already does, including the disposal of municipal solid waste, low level ‘Category C’ contaminated soil and solid inert waste within part of the quarry void resulting from future Boral quarrying operations.

The Cleanaway proposal requires both planning permit approval and works approval to proceed.

Comment on both the works approval and planning permit applications can be made at: www.delwp.vic.gov.au/ravenhall-landfill-expansion.

The full applications, accompanying plans, specifications and other information can be viewed and downloaded by visiting www.epa.vic.gov.au/CleanawayMRL

An independent planning panel will consider all submissions in relation to the works approval and planning permit. Following the panel’s report, the Minister for Planning will make a decision on the planning permit application and EPA will make a decision on the works approval application.
