Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) advises that periods of poor to very poor air quality are likely in Brooklyn until Friday.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast dry days with very stable atmospheric conditions, which can result in pollution accumulation, particularly during light northerly winds that are expected during mornings and early evening until Friday.
The periods of poor air quality are likely to occur due to a combination of urban wood-heating emissions and emissions from the Brooklyn industrial estate.
EPA has contacted industry in the area and urged it to implement dust management plans to ensure businesses do not contribute to poor air quality in the area.
