Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) advises that periods of poor air quality are likely throughout Melbourne and Geelong today and possibly into the weekend.
The Bureau of Meteorology’s forecast for today is cold and dry with stable atmospheric conditions, which can result in pollution accumulation.
Periods of poor air quality will likely be due to the additional contribution caused by urban wood-heating emissions at this time of year.
EPA encourages households with wood heaters to take practical steps to help reduce smoke from their heaters over winter.
