Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has revoked a clean up notice which was issued to the Otway Coast Committee following the removal of asbestos-containing fragments from the Apollo Bay foreshore.
EPA issued the notice after several fragments were found by a local resident and the EPA in January.
EPA South West Manager Eve Graham said the committee had engaged an accredited asbestos removalist who had thoroughly inspected the area and removed further fragments.
“The removalist has now provided the committee with a clearance certificate for the Apollo Bay foreshore,” Ms Graham said.
“Now that all the requirements of the notice have been met by the committee, EPA has revoked the notice.”
EPA encourages the community to continue reporting any concerns immediately to its pollution hotline on 1300 372 842 (EPA VIC).
