Since 2014, Victorians have been able to participate in and contribute to Environment Protection Authority Victoria’s (EPA) Citizen Science program.
EPA’s Citizen Science program was established to provide an opportunity for volunteers to be involved with scientific projects in their local communities.
EPA wants to recruit new Citizen Scientists from Latrobe Valley to help better understand dust issues in the area.
The program aims to engage the community in the scientific work that underpins our decision making. It aims to create a two-way working relationship between EPA and the Victorian community, promoting a shared understanding of important environmental issues.
“Air quality is always a topic of interest and EPA is keen to get Latrobe Valley residents involved in a new project to understand the dust around our homes,” said Jess Bandiera, EPA Gippsland Acting Manager.
If you’re interested in being a part of the Citizen Scientists program you can get involved at a special meeting on Saturday 28 April, at Kernot Hall, Princes Drive, Morwell from 1pm to 2pm.
For more information about the event, please email Citizen.Science@epa.vic.gov.au or call 1300 372 842 (1300 EPA VIC).
