Environment Protection Authority Victoria ( EPA) has published the results of the community conference it held as part of the periodic review of the licences of the three brown coal-fired power stations – AGL Loy Yang A, IPM Loy Yang B and Energy Australia Yallourn.
EPA’s first step in the review process was to take submissions from the public. The concerns raised were then provided to the power stations to respond to. On 22 August, 2018 EPA held daytime and evening conferences to enable as many people to attend as possible.
"Those two sessions held in Traralgon in August, were a great opportunity to hear directly from the people of the Latrobe Valley and other interested parties and discuss how their concerns could be resolved," said Tim Faragher, EPA Director Development Assessments.
"The report from those sessions, the 493 written submissions we received and the three power station operators’ responses to those issues as well as the power stations air modelling reports, are available to download from Engage Victoria.
"From here, EPA will use the report and what it has learnt from the community consultation sessions as it conducts the power station licence reviews and provide the outcomes to the power stations and the community once it is complete."
