Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has received 40 new submissions following its decision in January to re-open the public submission process for a proposed onshore abalone farm near Portland.
EPA is considering a works approval application from Yumbah Aquaculture Ltd (Yumbah) for the farm. The proposed farm would include a hatchery, nursery and growout tanks, pumping seawater to the land-based farm, before discharging treated water to the bay through a series of outlet pipelines.
Yumbah has also responded to an EPA request for more information on 22 January 2019. That response, all 377 public submissions and the original proposal are available at:

EPA Director, Development Assessments Tim Faragher said public interest had been very strong.
"EPA is considering all submissions and the additional information provided by Yumbah in response to EPA's requests for further information. A decision is now expected to be made in mid-late March," he said.
