Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has set up mobile air quality monitoring stations at Pakenham and Drouin.
The mobile units are now giving the public access to live air quality data online, covering populated areas that may be affected by smoke from the major bushfire burning in Bunyip State Park.
EPA’s State Agency Commander dispatched the mobile units this afternoon to provide detailed monitoring in the area between EPA’s permanent air quality monitoring stations in the Latrobe Valley and the metropolitan area.
By visiting EPA’s AirWatch website, residents can see a live stream of the air quality data used by the emergency services to decide which areas should receive air quality warnings and the level of health advice to the public.
